SUGAR COOKIES
3 cups flour
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
[room temperature]
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
powdered sugar
_ sift flour, baking powder and salt together
_ knead butter and sugar until creamy
_ add egg and milk
_ gradually add the flour mixture
_ form a smooth dough
_ divide into two pieces and wrap in cling foil
_ refrigerate for a minimum of two hours
_ preheat oven to 375°F
_ sprinkle surface with powdered sugar
_ roll out dough 6mm thick
_ cut out desired shapes
_ place cookies onto a baking sheet [min 1.5 cm apart]
_ bake for 7-9 minutes [until they turn brown around the edges]
_ cool 2 minutes before taking them off the sheet
[cookies store well in an air tight container for up to one week]
